Christmas wouldn’t be complete without an evergreen tree at home, adorned with pretty baubles and ornaments to make it oh-so-special. And with our malls setting up festive installations, it’s not hard to see our IG feed peppered with 10/10 holiday ‘gram shots – but alas, we’re often left with so many Instagrammable spots, and so little time.
However, you don’t need Santa’s sleigh to transport you from one place to another to capture a winning OOTD; you’ll just need Google Maps handy, a festive outfit and this nifty guide to the most unique Christmas trees in SG:
Speaking of on-pointe Christmas trees, Bugis Junction is sporting a huge 10-metre-tall ballerina in place of the traditional fir tree this year. And if that’s not epic enough, it even twirls around to tinkly Christmas tunes like White Christmas and Jingle Bells.
Get a winning shot with her immaculate petaled dress and cascading flowers.
For a close-up, align the bottom of your shot so the music notes look like waves behind you and wait for the flowers to rotate into frame before snapping.

Getting there: The installation is located outside McDonald’s
Trippy is an understatement when it comes to this kaleidoscopic tree at Millenia Walk, which is far from the typical bristly-leafed staple we’re used to seeing. This unconventional installation resembles giant origami, folded from a psychedelic quilt of colours and patterns.
The mall is great for wide-shot OOTDs as you’ll be able to capture the tree in all its glory, without having to worry about a cluttered background to crop out.
Step inside this “tree” and be completely mesmerised by the swirling neon colours around you with a web of string lights dangling from above.
If that’s not enough to tickle your senses, there’s also an installation in the centre of the tree where you can gaze into a holographic mirror, walk around it, and be immersed in a life size kaleidoscope of spiralling lights and colours.

There’s no better way to usher in a uniquely Singaporean Christmas than with a public transport-themed Christmas tree. Knackstop’s tree even has a familiar train circling up and down its spiral track!
For a boomerang with this unique tree and iconic characters like Bag Down Benny and Stand Up Stacey, head down to their Tree of Joy booth in Suntec City.
While you’re here, get some cute knick knacks inspired by none other than our public transport icons. We’re talking “Bus-stop Bell” Keychains ($13), a Singapore Bus Coin Bank ($24) and the Downtown Line Train Keychain ($12.50). Unicorns have taken over our Instagram feeds this year, so it only makes sense for someone to have come up with a unicorn-themed Christmas tree. Located between the entrance of Jem and Jurong East MRT, this enchanted forest is hard to miss.
To achieve this other-worldly Christmas card shot, pretend you’re Alice in Wonderland while gazing at your surroundings in wonderment.
For a close-up, set your camera to a low aperture and position yourself further away from the illuminated tree and closer to the camera for this magical glittery backdrop.

Decked in white glittery flowers, giant silver and blue baubles, and snowflakes for that added wintery effect, this tree screams “photo opportunity” whether you’re looking to flaunt your outfit, or photography skills.
For close-up shots, go straight for the bokeh look – it’ll add a magical flair to any photo. With a low aperture setting, you’ll be able to blur out the shimmer to achieve an ethereal effect.

Getting there: Take exit D from Orchard MRT. You’ll see the tree outside the main entrance to Wisma Atria, opposite Lucky Plaza.
Work it on one of these beach decks for a laid-back shot with Santa.
As some try and recreate the white, snowy Christmases in the Northern Hemisphere, Jurong Point’s tropical-themed deco shows us how the North Pole might be if it were located in our sunny island. This comical set up consists of a 2-storey-high turquoise tree flanked by Santa and his reindeer just chillin’ in their beachwear and sunnies.
A portrait shot here works better in the evening when the tree’s all lit up so you’ll get a galaxy-like blurred-out background.

At some point in our childhood, we’ve all longed to step into a snowglobe and be one with the snowglobe. This year, Velocity’s special Christmas tree set up allows you to do just that and live out your childhood fantasies!
