Many of us would have cycled or walked past Singapore Wake Park while exploring East Coast Park. It’s pretty hard to miss, since the water park is often frequented by seemingly super-athletic humans zipping across the surface of the water.

But don’t let that intimidate you as cable-skiing is actually pretty beginner-friendly. Of the three routes at Singapore Wake Park, one is dedicated just for newbies, with straight laps and slower speeds. Kids as young as 6 years old can try it out, and you’ll have an instructor to show you the ropes.

Those who fall in love with the sport can work their way up to the intermediate and advanced cable systems, with obstacles and opportunities for fancy tricks.
As far as water sports go, wakeboarding is also a relatively easy option to dip your toes into. Compared to sailing and windsurfing, there’s no need to register way in advance for courses before you get to have fun – signing up is as easy as booking a slot on Singapore Wake Park’s booking app.

Not just open in the day-time, busy bees can also swing by after work to try cable-skiing at night, with powerful floodlights to light the way.
Once you’re done for the day, make use of the changing rooms, shower facilities and dressing countertops available to wash up before heading home.

Prices for a single session here begin from $50/hour, or from $20/hour if you purchase a Share-The-Fun pass, which you can share with family and friends. Board rentals are also available at an additional $20/hour.
Like most water sports, you’ll have to shell out quite a bit – but now that 5five-pax gatherings are finally allowed, an unconventional activity could be a fun way to make up for all the lost time with friends.
