Brunch-ing by the Bay at Privé

I remember having yearned to hit up this place for a really long time, but it was rather inaccessible as it was located on Keppel Island. Or more so, I was lazy to travel and having to be the road guide.

Thennn, I couldn’t stand it.

And we made our way there for brunch one fine weekend morning.

Well, how could I resist fresh, flaky croissant toasted warm with a cuppa coffee before the mains came?

It was pretty huge, to be honest. And all of us were pretty wow-ed by it. It wasn’t like the usual croissants, overly airy in the middle. This was not TOO buttery too, which was another plus-point.

Each croissant came with a pat of butter. To pop’s delight.

Oh of course the absolutely beautiful view while savoring brunch food far more than made up for the extra time locating the place and getting a parking space.

And look. How can one ever resist pancakes I don’t understand. They had their mains and lunch items ready to order too, but hey, I’m coming for their brunch items.

Don’t underestimate this stack of pancakes. They pack a punch. Honestly. Espresso pancakes drizzled (or more like drenched), in a thick chocolate syrup finished with spoonfuls of mini chocolate chips AND honeycomb pieces. When you go, just go all the way baby, don’t stop.

Ahh, indeed diabetes inducing.

However, it started to get overpowering halfway through. I suggest this dish to be for sharing.

It may get cloying on the taste buds what with all the chocolate and the sugar.

Oh actually, the chocolate syrup isn’t the slightly watered down Hershey’s ones. Instead, it was practically like

MELTED CHOCOLATE DRENCHED ON PANCAKES.

What is breakfast/brunch without an order of the English Breakfast set? It came with 2 poached eggs (choose your cooking style), a side salad, a slice of wholemeal toast, hash brown, 2 slices of bacon, sauteed mushrooms and a sausage.

What i can say is- don’t bother.

Get something else.

Much as it tastes okay, with not overcooked poached eggs and all, it didn’t wow me.

The eggs were in fact, rather puny, not like the ones I get from other cafes. Which was kind of a disappointment to be honest.

Hashbrown? Oh, frozen ones. Just get yours from mickey dees. Much better (and cheaper of course).

Even their toast was akin to the ones you get from your usual grocer. The whole set up just seemed pretty… lacking.

All in all, if I was around this area, I would probably hit up this cafe/restaurant again. But as for now, I don’t plan a return visit any time soon!
