Gardens By The Bay’s Sakura Display Has Returned, This Time With A Cute Tokidoki Theme

Gardens by the Bay Sakura 2022

You can’t deny that Singaporeans have a mad love for the sakura season. We’d gladly pay a premium to fly to Japan to bask in pastel pink landscapes when it’s cherry blossom season.

If you’d happily scout out sakura trees on our little red dot, look no further than Gardens by the Bay. Their annual Sakura floral display is back at the Flower Dome from now till 3rd April 2022.

Like many of the attraction’s seasonal events, Gardens by the Bay’s Sakura display only run for a very limited time – one month to be exact. Returning for the seventh consecutive year, 2022’s edition comes with a cutesy flair, featuring tokidoki’s colourful unicorns.

Expect a picturesque scene of sakura trees and torii gates, alongside motifs and statues of tokidoki’s popular characters: Fubuki, Ichiyo, Haru & Harumi, Yoshino and Sakurako.

Elements of the characters will be spread throughout the dome, interspersed among the flowers, and adorning giant marumado-inspired structures. Kids are sure to enjoy spotting the colourful decor. As for the adults, the whimsical setting ought to give you a slice of Japan that has been sorely missed.

Visitors can also expect to find Japanese floral art and a display of carp streamers.

Other than clicking your cameras away, look out for an array of free cultural programmes including a Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshop where participants will be taught how to make a cup of usucha – or “thin” matcha tea that’s light on flavour. The lineup also includes koto and erhu performances, alongside a Japanese folk dance recital.
