Scenic waterfalls in Singapore
When it comes to waterfalls, Singapore’s natural landscape might not have much to boast when compared to other popular tourist destinations like Bali and Phuket.
However, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have anything to offer. Jewel Changi’s Rain Vortex and Jurong Bird Park’s impressive waterfall aviary are just the tip of the iceberg of the many picturesque man-made waterfalls in Singapore we can visit.
Whether for a short respite away from the 9-6 grind or if you’re simply looking for a pretty photoshoot spot, here are six scenic waterfalls to visit.

1. Serene Garden Waterfall, Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is no novelty to the average Singaporean, with many having visited the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome at least once. However, just around the corner is the lesser-known Serene Garden.
Inspired by Japanese zen gardens, it’s conveniently located a short walk away from The Meadow, perfect for a quiet escape while still in the city.

While typically free, entry to the garden from now till 3rd October 2021 requires an admission ticket to the Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom Exhibition. Tickets can be redeemed using SingapoRediscovers Vouchers.
Take a peaceful walk with nature among the bamboo trees that offer much-needed shade for visitors

2. Ginger Garden, Singapore Botanic Gardens
From flowers and ornamental plants to edible spices found in the kitchen, the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Ginger Garden is home to more than 250 varieties of ginger plants.

With a cave behind the waterfall to pose at and giant Amazon water lilies to feast your eyes upon, the Ginger Garden is a popular spot for both nature lovers and photography buffs alike.

3. Yunnan Garden, NTU

Possibly one of the most underrated yet rejuvenating parks in Singapore, Yunnan Garden is home to a 5.6M waterfall reminiscent of Bali’s Jembong Waterfall.
Located within the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus, Yunnan Garden was built in the 1950s and has been revamped to include extra pathways and even a lake ever since.

Pack your picnic baskets and take a trip out West to enjoy the tranquil views and Chinese-inspired architectural features Yunnan Garden has to offer.

With pavilions all around the garden and shade provided by willow trees, visitors can admire the landscape without worrying about heating up in Singapore’s scorching weather.

4. Sheraton Towers
A popular wedding solemnisation spot located a 12-minute walk away from Orchard MRT, Sheraton Towers’ waterfall is a picturesque pitstop no matter the occasion.
Whether for a break from shopping around Orchard Road or an atas meal at The Dining Room, visitors can treat themselves to a visit to the outdoor pavilion for a view of the waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and a pond swarmed with a school of koi fish.

5. Grand Hyatt

Conveniently located in town right next to Far East Plaza, Grand Hyatt boasts a 5M waterfall of its own. Treat your eyes and tummy with some afternoon tea or an evening cocktail amidst views of the cascading centrepiece.

If you’re not one to splurge on hotel food, you can still view the waterfall from Grand Hyatt’s lift lobby.

6. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

While hospitals are usually the last place you’d think of when it comes to “photogenic locations”, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital emulates a lush environment akin to an exotic rainforest. Greenery and ponds are located all over the hospital grounds – a far cry from what you’d imagine a hospital to look like.
While we don’t recommend coming here for a full-blown photoshoot, visitors can always take a short walk to the nearby Yishun Pond that’s located right next to the hospital.
The pond is known for bird sightings and being a refreshing nature spot amid the heartlands

Waterfalls might not be the first thing that comes to mind when we think of nature in Singapore – in fact, we might not even be aware of their existence. Take a short trip out to explore some of these sights the next time you need a breather from staying indoors.
